I reached out to guy a few months back and implored him to keep low expectations for me, and since then he has only helped me to build my confidence and previous perception of my incompetence. He is one of the most patient people I have ever met which allows me to slowly better my skill, but also helps me move at a pace that will introduce new songs or techniques that wont burn me out. He’s been very accommodating with lesson times and locations (which helps since I’m especially erratic) and overall makes learning a new skill a pleasure for me rather than a chore. If I could give a sixth star for his patience and encouragement alone, I would.

I began taking lessons from Guy in August of 2022. It is now December and I have learned more than I believed possible in such a short time. During these lessons, I am able to chose songs that I want to play, not only the songs Guy recommends to me, whenever I make mistakes or struggle to learn a certain skill, Guy does not criticize me, but encourages me to do better. He is very understanding and has a flexible schedule. So, if anything comes up, he is very open to rescheduling our lessons. Guy also knows how to progress my learning. He knows when to push me to learn challenging songs that he believes I am capable of playing. Not only that, but he also recommends albums or songs that he thinks I would enjoy listening to, so I am also expanding my musical varieties while learning a new skill. Guy also learns songs that he may not know, but I want to learn, even if the song is not really his taste. I see no reason to not take guitar lessons from Guy. I have not one criticism to make.

Guy was a spectacular teacher. He had patience for this newbie, and didn’t make me feel like I was unteachable, like I thought I was! I felt that he had a sense of what I was looking for as my goal right away and he really helped me on that path with not just the lesson but also the practice homework. It really helped reinforce what I learned with him. Great experience.
